TESTIMONIALS

SELMA BEKRI
Senior Scientist
Mount Sinai Hospital

I cannot express enough my gratitude for Ms Miller’s teaching. It has helped me tremendously in the first years of my postdoctoral fellowship. I have improved my oral and writing skills, learned to understand idioms and how to use them in a daily basis and gained confidence in my oral presentations.

I strongly believe that this class was very beneficial to my everyday work and my career progression. I was very fortunate to have access to Ms. Miller’s high quality classes and I hope she could continue helping other foreign postdocs in mastering the American language.

When I was taking this class, I was fairly new to the country and the language barrier was my main challenge. This class not only improved my English, It also helped to me be more aware of cultural differences; therefore, I was able to understand and communicate more effectively at work.

Thanks to the teacher for helping me in my journey by patiently listening to me and correcting my writing and accent. I did not feel embarrassed even once for asking a question or not knowing how to pronounce a word.  This class gives emotional support to anybody who is struggling learning and improving their English.

International Postdocs account for >85% of all the Postdocs working at Sinai, including myself. Many of us are new to the country when we first start working here, and are interested in improving our language skills to give our best at work, as well as adapt to the American culture.

Ann is an amazing English teacher and her work helps many people that work here at Sinai, and maintaining this program alive is for the best of the Sinai community.

The best part of this class was the conversations examples that we used to practice our pronunciation as well as the discussion of different topics at the end of the class.

These two activities allowed me to improve my communications skills and my pronunciation of some difficult words. All this help me to speak English in a more natural way.

This English is really helpful for me. My colleague told me that my English has improved dramatically. This made me more confident and efficient at work. I hope to continue to learn English with you.

I was one of the students in an English class during 2019-2021, with Ann E. Miller as my instructor. Her lessons are always very engaging, informative, and practical.

She is always patient with every student in the class and encourages students to practice. She was great at building confidence and used various techniques to improve students’ conversation, reading, and writing skills. She taught me not only the English language but also the American culture, which helped me adapt and live smoothly in the US.

I learned so much from Ann and I can confidently say that my English speaking, reading, and writing skills improved significantly because of her. I would recommend her to every student who moves to the US and wants to improve and develop their English communication skills.

Ann is the best ESL teacher that I have ever had. She is absolutely passionate about teaching English not only during the class, but also after the class. I always printed out my email writing and ask her to correct it for me. She always spends extra hours with me to correct my writing. How nice is she! Because of her help, my writing skills have improved a lot. She is an experienced instructor in teaching English to foreign language learners... She knows how to encourage us to speak up and write more accurately. We all love her class because even though sometimes learning English is kind of boring , she knows how to make it interesting for us. She is always has some ways to make our class more engaging.

My English is much better than when I first time came to the class. I carried a strong accent when I saw her. She always corrects my pronunciation and I used to make a lot mistakes on my writing.  I feel more comfortable to communicate with my patients now. My email writing is more effective and compelling. She provides me with some helpful tips to help me improve the overall quality of my emails. When I apply these simple strategies to my writing, I am able to confidently send emails to anyone and get rid of that post-send anxiety.

I would love to say THANK YOU to Ann. She is so professional in all aspects of teaching English. The class was so helpful and she led the class with great patience that brought us to a better understanding as well as better speaking skills in English.

Would definitely recommend Ann to English learners.

I loved the overall atmosphere in the class. Ann was always caring and prepared topics covering different fields that not only improved our English but also broaden our vision.

I'm very grateful for your work in the classes.  It helped me a lot in the beginning. I wish I could have more time to attend the classes. But the ones I could attend were really worth being in. English is not easy for me I learned the basics just before moving to the US. I had a lot of trouble communicating in English.

I still have, it is very hard and sometimes can be frustrating. I want you to know that your support was significant.

I had attended many English classes (in my country, in the UK, and in the US-while I was a fellow) before seeing Teacher Ann E. Miller. Sincerely, she is one of my best English teachers. I have a feeling that she has been working hard for the class. She prepared learning materials-papers, news, websites, etc.

I still remember the way we practiced pronunciation with her. She made sure that every single student could pronounce correctly.
